Now the weather is getting frostier, the nights are darker and the Christmas tree decorations are being hauled down from the loft, the festive season is most definitely upon us.

London

 

 

In the capital there are a few markets to choose from including Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and the Leicester Square Christmas Market. However, the riverside setting and Nordic-inspired architecture makes the Winter Market at Southbank Centre a must do for you are living in, or heading to, London in December. Featuring some of the best local London and UK businesses, this market is one of the prime locations for quality gifts and delicious food. From exquisite sheepskin rugs to eye-catching festive door wreaths, you will find a wide variety items while browsing this beautiful market. The Winter Market at Southbank Centre is open between 10 November and 30 December.

  

Eat… at Jimmy Garcia’s latest pop-up food venture Jimmy’s Lodge located on Queens Walk, next to Waterloo Bridge. At this unique dining experience, you can feast on a selection of gourmet dishes from traditional alpine fondue and artisan charcuterie to wild boar and apple hot dogs served with parmesan and truffle oil topped fries. For a more special meal, you can hire out one of four private dining snowglobes in The Refuse, which seat up to 10 people.

 

Experience… the Finnish Rooftop Sauna at Queen Elizabeth Hall. A collaboration between Aalto University (Helsinki) MA students and Finnish sculptor Jaakko Pernu, this beautifully crafted rooftop sauna brings together the ultimate in relaxation and bespoke artistic commission. Reaching temperatures of 90 degrees celsius you can sit back, rest your feet and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the River Thames.

 

 

 

 

 

Edinburgh

 

 

People travel from all over the country to visit the Edinburgh Christmas Markets and it is easy to see why. Spanning a number of locations across the city, these markets have a traditional and romantic feel and feature some of the most bespoke items at any Christmas market in the UK.

 

Alongside the famous markets, the City hosts a huge variety of parties, events and decorations to ensure the streets of Edinburgh are filled with the sights and sounds of Christmas. Birmingham

 

 

Offering the largest authentic German market outside of Germany and Austria, the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Victoria Square is the heart of Christmas in the Birmingham. With over 120 stalls, events and live music performances, the Frankfurt Christmas Market has something for everyone.

 

With retailers selling items such as clothing, skincare, accessories, home, food and much more, there is fabulous selection of tempting cuisine, beverages and presents on offer here. From handcrafted wooden decorations and delicate glass baubles to crystal lamps and rich leatherwork, if it is luxury you are after, you can be sure you will find it here.
